October 4, 2017 (NEW YORK) – Proskauer and pro bono partner Bill Silverman were honored at the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women’s (CATW) 2017 gala for their contributions to end human trafficking, promote justice and equality and improve lives. The event was an evening to celebrate the successes the organization and its partners have achieved together in the fight against human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of women and girls. The Firm was honored alongside JoAnn Neale, CAO of Major League Soccer & MLS Works and Jimmie Briggs, Co-Founder and Visionary of Man Up Campaign, and special guest Gloria Steinem presented the awards.

The world’s first organization to fight human trafficking internationally, CATW is a non-governmental organization that works to end human trafficking and the commercial sexual exploitation of women and children worldwide. In addition, CATW engages in victim services, advocacy, education and prevention programs for victims of trafficking in many countries around the world.

Bill serves as counsel to the New York State Anti-Trafficking Coalition and has helped many survivors in various legal proceedings. He also has advocated for changes in the law and public policy to protect victims and bring perpetrators to justice. Proskauer has handled several "T-visa" cases to help undocumented victims of trafficking seek legal immigration status. In addition, Proskauer partners with Sanctuary for Families to conduct intake interviews at the Human Trafficking Intervention Court in Queens with the goal of identifying trafficking victims among the undocumented defendants arrested for prostitution who can be connected to legal services.
