| Biography:
Jonathan M. Spiegel is an associate in the Real Estate Department in Proskauer Rose’s New York Office. Jonathan’s practice focuses on all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, with an emphasis on representing lenders and borrowers in the origination, purchase, sale, financing and restructuring of mortgage and mezzanine loans, including work-outs of distressed loans. He has worked on loan participations, syndications, securitizations, financing loan acquisitions with repurchase and other credit facilities, and structuring loans within hedge fund portfolios. Jonathan regularly counsels clients in the acquisition, disposition, and leasing of all types of real property and in the negotiation of joint venture agreements. He has worked with an array of clients, including investment and commercial banks, REITs, insurance companies, real estate developers, private equity and opportunity funds, employee benefit plans, and tax-exempt organizations.
Jonathan is a member of the American Bar Association (Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section), the New York State Bar Association (Real Property Law Section), and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
Jonathan received his B.A. degree, cum laude, with highest honors in English literature from Skidmore College and earned his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law – Yeshiva University, where he was a student contributor to the New York Real Estate Law Reporter. While attending law school, Jonathan also worked as a law clerk for the general counsel of The Trust Company of New Jersey.
