James W. Bartling is an associate in the Corporate Department, and a member of the Junior Capital Group. James has a general corporate practice, with an emphasis in finance transactions, particularly those involving mezzanine, second-lien, preferred stock and other forms of junior capital. The Junior Capital Group represents a large array of mezzanine lenders, senior lenders, private equity investors, hedge funds and issuers in connection with leveraged buyouts, growth capital investments, acquisition financings, going-private transactions, management buyouts and other finance-related transactions.
Prior to joining Proskauer Rose, James worked as in-house counsel for Investors Bank & Trust Company, a subsidiary of Investors Financial Services Corp., a publicly traded financial services company.
James received his B.S. in psychology from the University of Vermont, School of Arts and Sciences in 1999, and his J.D., cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School in 2006. At Suffolk University Law School, James was a production editor for the Suffolk Journal of Trial & Appellate Advocacy, a Member of the Suffolk University Moot Court Honor Board and a recipient of the Academic Leadership Scholarship.
James is admitted to the Bar in Massachusetts (2006).
