Biography: Untitled Document

Harris S. Freier is an associate in Proskauer 's Labor and Employment Law Department, resident in the firm's Newark office. Harris has a broad practice area which includes ERISA litigation, employment law and pure labor law. He has spent significant time on two major ERISA litigation cases, and has also worked on various employment cases ranging from employment discrimination to an invention disclosure dispute. His cases run the gamut from major class actions to individual plaintiff suits.

Harris also has labor arbitration experience representing both employees and management, and thus is able to bring a unique perspective into his management-based labor work. While at Cornell Law School, Harris served as co-counsel for the local chapter of the Teamsters in a wrongful termination discharge arbitration and was able to secure a victory for his client. At Proskauer, Harris recently secured a victory for his pro bono client, the City of New York, in an arbitration where the arbitrator denied the employee's claim that he had been working out-of-title.

Harris received his B.A., with distinction, from the University of Virginia and received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Cornell Law School. Based on his academic performance at Cornell, Harris was selected for membership in the Order of the Coif. He also received the CALI Award for Excellence, the award given to the top law student in a given subject, in both Labor Law and his Labor Law Clinic. Harris served as an Articles Editor for the Cornell International Law Journal.
