| Biography:
Laurier ("Larry") W. Beaupre is a partner in the Corporate Department
and a member of the Private Equity Group of Proskauer Rose LLP. Mr. Beaupre
has a general corporate practice, with a particular emphasis on representing
private equity fund managers in fund formations and with respect to succession
planning and other firm governance issues. He represents numerous funds-of-funds,
public pension plans and other institutions as investors in private equity funds
worldwide; provides advice on compliance with the Investment Advisers Act of
1940 and the Investment Company Act of 1940; and represents private equity funds
and other institutions as investors in privately held operating companies.
Mr. Beaupre also develops and presents continuing legal education programs
on private equity fund formation issues.
Prior to joining Proskauer, Mr. Beaupre practiced as a member of the Private
Equity Group at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP, where his practice also
included general representation of venture-backed operating companies in the
life sciences, software and Internet sectors. In addition, he served as a firm
"domain specialist" on the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.
Recently, Mr. Beaupre was recommended by PLC Which Lawyer? for private
equity/venture capital representation in Boston (2005).
Mr. Beaupre received his B.A. from Bates College in 1984 and his MBA, with
honors, Beta Gamma Sigma, from Boston University School of Management in 1993.
Mr. Beaupre received his JD, magna cum laude, from Boston College Law School
in 1996, where he was Executive Editor of The Boston College Law Review
and inducted into the Order of the Coif. Mr. Beaupre is admitted to the Bar
in Massachusetts (1996).
