| Biography:
Daniel P. Finkelman is a partner in the Firm's Corporate Department and a member
of the Private Investment Funds Group. His practice is concentrated in the representation
of venture capital funds, buyout funds, corporate-sponsored funds, offshore
and multinational funds, institutional investors and placement
agents.
Mr. Finkelman's principal activities on behalf of funds include fund organization
and maintenance, investments, and sales and distributions. He has represented
funds ranging in size from under $20 million to over $2 billion, in raising
over $30 billion of committed capital. His fund clients include Abingworth Bioventures,
Argosy Investment Partners, Calder Capital Partners, CMEA Ventures, Columbia Capital, HealthCare Ventures, Mission Ventures, New
Enterprise Associates, Oxford Bioscience Partners, Spectrum Equity Investors,
and Updata Venture Partners, among many others. He has also represented companies
such as Boston Scientific, Comcast and NEC in forming their investment funds. In addition, he represents placement agents and other industry representatives, including BerchWood Partners.
Mr. Finkelman has served as an expert witness in private equity-related litigation,
arbitration, and mediation proceedings and as a legal advisor to the Private
Equity Industry Guidance Group.
In addition, Mr. Finkelman has received numerous accolades for his work in
the private equity field. In 2007, and for several years prior, Chambers Global recognized Mr. Finkelman for his Private Equity Fund Formation work. In 2007 and 2008, he was selected again as one of the leading attorneys in his field by Chambers USA. In 2008, he was named one of The Best Lawyers in America. He was also selected as one of the top 3,000 lawyers in the US by Lawdragon, and as a New England Super Lawyer. Mr. Finkelman also has received a recommendation in the PLC Cross-Border Private Equity Handbook 2007, for private equity/venture capital representation.
Mr. Finkelman received his A.B., cum laude, from Clark University,
where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and his M.B.A. and J.D. from Columbia
University, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He is admitted
to the New York Bar and the Massachusetts Bar.
Mr. Finkelman also frequently writes and lectures on topics of interest to
the private equity industry.
