| Biography:
Rima Moawad is a partner in the Corporate Department of our New York office. As a member of the Mergers & Acquisitions Group, she concentrates on a broad range of domestic and international transactions (including leveraged buyouts and joint ventures), representing both financial and strategic acquirers and sellers. She has advised Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity in more than a dozen transactions, including the $33 billon leveraged buyout of HCA. She also has regularly advised French-based companies Total SA and Alcatel SA in cross-border M&A matters. Other recent transactions include the sale of Sharon Tube Corporation to the Carlyle Group and the acquisition by India Hospitality Corp., an AIM-listed blank-check company, of a flight catering business and related restaurant and hotel business in India from affiliates of Navis Capital Partners.
With significant defense industry expertise, Rima has completed more than 30 M&A transactions for L-3 Communications, including L-3’s acquisition of Vertex Aerospace from Veritas Capital for $650 million.
She also advises on private equity and venture capital transactions, representing both investors and issuers. Representative clients include RRE Ventures, Rho Ventures and Bug Labs, Inc. Rima recently represented Rho Ventures in connection with TA Associates' acquisition of IntraLinks, a document exchange company in which Rho is a major investor.
Rima represents Social and Economic Action for Lebanon (SEAL), a New York non-profit corporation, where she serves as Secretary, as well as the Mata Amritanadamayi Math, one of India's largest charities, which has been awarded Special UN Consultative Status.
Prior to starting her legal career, Rima was the head of the Paris office of the Rene Moawad Foundation, a Lebanese non-profit organization dedicated to promoting democratic values and social justice in Lebanon.
Rima is the acting New York State Liaison to the Committee on Corporate Laws of the American Bar Association Section of Business Law. She graduated from the Pantheon-Assas University in Paris (Paris II), and received an LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School.
