| Biography:
Adam C. Abrahms is an associate with the Los Angeles office of Proskauer Rose
LLP. He received his Bachelor of Arts in political science and history from
California Lutheran University, where he was a Ronald Reagan Presidential Scholar.
Mr. Abrahms received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in
1999. At Georgetown, Mr. Abrahms was a published member of the Georgetown
Immigration Law Journal; "Closing the Immigration Loophole," 12
GEO. Immg. L.J. 4699 (1998).
Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Abrahms was admitted to the California
Bar and devoted his practice almost exclusively to representing management in
labor and employment law matters. He practices before the National Labor Relations
Board, state and federal agencies, and state and federal courts.
Mr. Abrahms represents employers extensively on labor management relations
issues, including union representation elections, unfair labor practice cases,
collective bargaining, and labor arbitrations. Mr. Abrahms also counsels and
trains employers on maintaining union-free status.
While his practice primarily focuses on traditional labor-related issues, Mr.
Abrahms also litigates wrongful termination and discrimination law suits before
state and federal courts and administrative agencies, and provides preemptive
advice to employers on wage and hour or other related matters.
Highlights of Mr. Abrahms' Career Include:
- Recognized by Los Angeles magazine in 2008 as a “Southern California Super Lawyer – Rising Star”.
- Received the 2005 Board Appreciation Award by The Surfrider Foundation for
legal contributions to the company;
- Extensive counseling and training management in matters of union avoidance
in all industries;
- Handled numerous representation elections through to election;
- Representation of major employers in all stages and types of post-election
litigation;
- Successfully challenged the San Francisco International Airport Card Check
Ordinance, forcing the union to attempt to organize through a Board election,
ultimately resulting in the first and only known defeat of a union-organizing
attempt at the Airport;
- Acted as lead and second negotiator in numerous collective bargaining negotiations
in various industries;
- Handled collective bargaining agreement administration, including contract
interpretation, grievance advice, arbitrations, successful subcontracting
and negotiation of memoranda of understandings and letter agreements;
- Successful defense of unfair labor practice charges including withdrawal
of recognition, terminations, disciplines, refusal to hire, threats, interrogations,
and alterations of working conditions;
- Extensive experience with California wage and hour laws, including policy
and procedures advice, and counsel and defense of claims.
