Biography: Untitled Document

Jody S. Riger is an associate in Proskauer's Labor and Employment Law Department, residing in the Firm's Newark office. Her practice focuses on the representation of management in all phases of civil litigation involving claims of unlawful discrimination, hostile work environment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, defamation and other employment-related disputes before federal and state courts, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and state civil rights enforcement agencies, as well as through mediation and arbitration. She also regularly counsels employers regarding personnel policies, employee discipline and terminations, reductions-in-force, employment contracts and employee benefits issues.

Jody is admitted to practice before the state courts of New Jersey and New York, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the District of New Jersey, Southern District of New York and Eastern District of New York.

A magna cum laude graduate of Montclair State University, Jody earned her law degree from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark. While attending Rutgers Law, she was asked by the program director to be a teaching associate in the Legal Research and Writing program early in her second year of law school. She was a finalist in the school’s moot court competition, and was selected as a member of the school’s national moot court team. Jody is also a charter member of the Special Committee on Animal Law of the New Jersey State Bar Association.
