Daniel Altchek is an associate in Proskauer’s Labor and Employment Law Department, resident in the firm's New York office.
Dan has substantial experience advising and representing private sector employers in such industries as professional sports, news media and publishing, entertainment, financial services, health care and education, in both traditional labor and employment law matters.
Dan handles a wide range of employment litigation matters in state and federal court, including claims alleging age, race, sex and national origin discrimination and harassment, retaliation and violations of state wage and hour laws. He also investigates and defends such claims before federal, state and local administrative agencies. In addition, Dan routinely handles state and federal litigations involving breach of contract and related business torts.
Dan has extensive experience in handling collective bargaining disputes for public sector employers, including litigating matters before the New York State Public Employment Relations Board and various public interest arbitration panels, representing such clients as the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in connection with the 2005 transit strike, the City of New York and Metro-North Commuter Railroad in Presidential Emergency Board hearings.
Dan received his law degree from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone scholar, and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia College. He is a member of the New York State Bar and is admitted to practice in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
