| Biography:
Brad Ruskin is Co-Chairman of Proskauer Rose LLP's Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department and has served two terms on the Firm’s Executive Committee.
During the past few years, Brad tried five cases to verdict, each one with a complete victory for Proskauer’s client, on issues ranging from “bet-the company” partnership disputes to questions of Russian constitutional and military law.
Sports Business
As head of the litigation section of Proskauer’s preeminent sports practice, a significant portion of Brad's practice is dedicated to litigating issues and counseling clients active in the sports business. Among the league clients for whom he performs services are the National Hockey League, Major League Soccer, National Basketball Association, ATP, and Sony Ericsson WTA. In addition, Brad has represented ownership groups and clubs in each of the major U.S. sports (including the Florida Marlins, the New York Jets, the Philadelphia Eagles and the New Jersey Devils), and media companies in sports-related disputes.
Communications, Media and Technology
Brad represents numerous communications, media and technology companies in a wide variety of litigated disputes, including partnership issues, communications and copyright law issues, bankruptcy disputes, contract rights and complex class actions. His recent clients include T-Mobile USA; Satyam Computer; ML Media Partners; Madonna; the RP Media Companies; American Zoetrope; and the Rascoff/Zysblat Organization.
Financial Services Companies
Brad also represents numerous financial services companies on a broad range of disputes, including contract, bankruptcy, investment, partnership, non-compete, and trade secret issues. Among his recent clients are JPMorgan Chase, Tullett Liberty, Inc., and various Merrill Lynch partnerships.
General Commercial Disputes
Brad also regularly handles a wide range of litigated matters, including contract, fraud, licensing, antitrust, trademark, franchising, partnership, intra-corporate, bankruptcy, unfair competition, and other commercial disputes. Brad has litigated trust matters throughout the country in various federal and state courts and in domestic and international arbitral forums. Brad also has handled proceedings (along with foreign co-counsel) before the European Commission and the Office of Fair Trading.
Brad received his Juris Doctor in 1981 from New York University School of Law, and graduated with honors from Brown University in 1978.
Brad has been selected as a leading practitioner in Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America, and New York Super Lawyers. Brad has also served as the Chair of numerous Bar Association Committees, including the Council on Judicial Administration of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Membership Committee of the Association, and the Special Committee on the Judiciary Budget of the Network of Bar Leaders. He is a frequently published author of articles, has taught a graduate school class at NYU’s Tisch School, and has testified before legislative and other bodies concerning administration of justice and court operations in New York State.
