Biography:

Joseph O'Keefe is Senior Counsel to Proskauer Rose LLP's Labor and Employment Law Department. Joe spent five years in Proskauer's New York office and now practices in Proskauer's Newark, New Jersey office.

For more than ten years Joe's practice has been concentrated in the area of employment litigation. He provides advice to management concerning all aspects of the employment relationship and concerning litigation avoidance, litigation strategy, and alternative forms of dispute resolution. Joe has litigated employment related lawsuits in federal and state courts, in connection with alleged discrimination and sexual harassment, whistleblowing, defamation, fraud, breach of contract, wrongful discharge, and other common law claims. He also investigates and defends claims pending before federal, state and local administrative agencies. Joe's experience includes appellate work in both federal and state courts.

Joe also provides counseling to employers with respect to a variety of employment related issues including management of personnel problems, investigation of employee complaints, state and federal leave laws, employment handbooks and contracts. Joe frequently speaks at seminars concerning legal developments in the labor and employment law field.

Prior to joining Proskauer in 1994, Joe worked at a large New Jersey law firm where he concentrated in employment litigation and counseling. Joe received his Bachelor's degree in political science when he graduated from the College of the Holy Cross, in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1988. He earned his Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from the George Washington University School of Law in 1991.

Joe is a member of the New York and New Jersey State Bars and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
