| Biography:
Edward A. Brill is a partner in the Labor and Employment Law Department of Proskauer Rose LLP's New York office.
Ed has represented employers in all types of employment litigation, both in New York and a number of other jurisdictions, including Washington, D.C., Florida, Texas, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, California, Georgia, Tennessee and Puerto Rico.
Ed has extensive experience in appeals, having briefed and/or argued dozens of appeals in state and federal appellate courts as well as the United States Supreme Court. Among his most recent appellate cases are:

14 Penn Plaza LLC v. Pyett (United States Supreme Court , April 2009) Co-author of Brief for Petitioner resulting in Supreme Court decision holding that a union-negotiated arbitration agreement can bind individual employees to arbitrate statutory age discrimination claims.

Carroll College v. NLRB, 558 F3d 568 (D.C. Cir. 2009), successfully briefed and argued appeal, resulting in the holding that National Labor Relations Board lacked jurisdiction over religiously-affiliated college, despite failure of prior counsel to raise that issue before the Board.

Adams v. Suozzi, 517 F3d 124 (2d Cir. 2008), successfully briefed and argued appeal, resulting in reversal of district court decision that Nassau County violated the due process rights of employees by unilaterally implementing a pay deferral plan.
Ed has devoted a significant amount of time over the past few years to representing educational institutions, including Columbia University, New York University, and Yale University
He is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys. He also served from 1995 to 1999 as a member of the National Advisory Committee, established to provide advice to the Department of Labor under the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) labor accord. He is also the past Chair of the International Employment Law Committee of the New York State Bar Association.
Ed received his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in 1969 and is a 1972 graduate of Yale Law School.
