Biography:

Joseph Baumgarten is a partner in the Labor and Employment Law Department of Proskauer Rose. He received a B.S. from Cornell University, where he attended the School of Industrial and Labor Relations, and a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School. Joe’s accomplishments have been recognized by his inclusion in Best Lawyers in America and in New York “Super Lawyers.”

Joe represents clients in a wide variety of areas, including financial services (banking, securities and insurance), television, newspapers, health care, hospitality and consumer products. His practice cuts across the entire area of labor and employment law, including single plaintiff, multi-plaintiff and class action litigation, arbitration of wage-hour and other compensation disputes, and the full range of employment discrimination actions. Joe also represents employers in labor management relations matters involving unionization and collective bargaining. Joe regularly litigates in state and federal court and has been involved in numerous arbitrations before NASD, NYSE and AAA panels. He is also a frequent lecturer on labor and employment law issues, has conducted training and seminars for clients, in-house counsel and human resources and labor relations executives, and has taught classes at Cornell’s ILR Extension Division and at NYU’s School of Education, Health, Nursing and Arts Professions.
