Nine of the ten most searched for queries on Google.com in 2007 were Web 2.0 applications and sites. User-generated content and social networking have seen significant growth over the past 18 months, with Facebook, eBay and YouTube now household names. But are these environments safe for children and vulnerable adults? This timely seminar will examine latest thinking on online safety, how policy may be developed to protect vulnerable groups while promoting the continued development of Web 2.0, and emerging intellectual property issues for rights holders and users.
Planned session will explore
- Social networks, online anonymity and protecting children
- Tackling cyber-bullying and cyber-hate
- Web 2.0 and intellectual property - enabling creativity in user-generated content while protecting rights holders
