As part of the Firm’s Adopt-a-School program, students from Manhattan Hunter Science High School and volunteers from our New York office boarded a ferry to visit GrowNYC’s Governors Island Teaching Garden, an 8,000-square-foot urban farm that engages, excites and educates its visitors in all aspects of urban farming.
During this May 2016 visit, the students learned about different types of soil and the plants and fruits being grown on the farm. In addition, they had the opportunity to put their green thumbs to work by mixing various types of soil and planting marigolds. They even tasted some of the farm’s fresh vegetables.
